MONTREAL, December 7, 2011– PLAN, the magazine of the Ordre professional des ingénieurs du Québec, published an article in its December issue entitled “Un métal mal connu” [A Poorly Known Metal] about the role of aluminum in Quebec’s infrastructure projects.

Alexandre de la Chevrotière, President of the MAADI Group, a Montreal-based engineering firm specializing in the design and construction of aluminum bridges, discusses the Ministère des Transports du Québec’s reluctance to use materials other than concrete and steel in its plans to replace the Champlain Bridge and other major provincial infrastructure. Mr. de la Chevrotière noted that many engineers have only a limited knowledge of aluminum’s characteristics.
